GRASSE JASMINE FESTIVAL
Wonderfully suited for creating the grandest compositions. Jasmine grandiflorum, cultivated in Grasse since the mid-19th century, releases an unforgettable fragrance that is sweet, floral, and fruity. The harvesting season extends from August to October.
Every day, pickers gather in the fields and starting at 5 a.m., they begin to pluck these delicate flowers with an enchanting scent. It takes two hours to gather one kilogram of these small white stars, which must be delivered to the factories by early afternoon for immediate processing.
Eight kilograms of flowers are needed for one liter of jasmine absolute - a treasure.
Since 1946, Grasse has been celebrating the iconic jasmine and paying popular tribute to both the growers and creators, to the land and the final fragrance.
By tradition, the festivities kick off on the first weekend of August. Everywhere in the streets, the small white flower is exalted, like a beauty queen. The crowd gathers and expresses its joy.
