Understanding Amber as Raw Material in Niche Perfumery
Contrary to what its name suggests, perfume amber is not an isolated natural substance but a complex accord generally composed of labdanum, vanilla, musk, and sometimes balsamic notes like benzoin or toluidine. At Grasse Atelier, we have mastered this subtle balance for generations, thanks to our laboratory located in the historic center of Grasse, world capital of perfume.
Amber brings depth, warmth and elegance to fragrant compositions. In our range of 18 oriental fragrances, it plays alternately the role of persistent base note (Ambre Sauvage, Empire Boisé), or central accord around which spices and precious woods revolve. With our minimum concentrations of 20%, amber notes persist 8-12 hours on skin — far superior to conventional eau de toilettes.
