Citrus essential oils are the vibrant heart of niche perfumery. To capture the soul of lemons, oranges, and mandarins, two ancestral techniques are used in Grasse: distillation and cold expression.
1. Traditional Distillation
This method involves heating the peels to release volatile compounds through steam. It produces an oil of crystalline purity, ideal for the top notes of our Signature Perfumes.
2. Cold Expression: Raw Purity
No heat is used here. The peels are mechanically pressed to release the pure essence. This is the method we prefer at Grasse Atelier to preserve the sparkling and sunny character of Provence citrus.
