Visiting an Authentic Artisan Perfumery in Grasse: Our Atelier

Every year, Grasse draws thousands of visitors eager to discover the world capital of perfume. Beyond the large tourist houses and their group tours, a few more intimate addresses offer a different kind of experience: seeing a working perfume laboratory, talking directly with the team behind the compositions, and leaving with a unique creation. Here's what defines a truly artisan perfumery — and how we embody it at Grasse Atelier.

What defines a genuinely artisan perfumery in Grasse

Three elements help identify truly local, artisan production:

  • A physical laboratory on site, with its own formulation equipment.
  • A fully owned value chain: essence selection, blending by a master perfumer, bottling — all carried out right in Grasse.
  • Transparency about raw materials, particularly the origin of the floral essences (jasmine, May rose) used in the compositions.

Grasse Atelier: a perfumery made on site

Grasse Atelier was founded by Carole Poinsot in the true Grasse family tradition. Our entire production — from selecting Provençal floral essences to final bottling — takes place in our laboratory at 28 Rue Amiral de Grasse.

Our extracts are dosed at a minimum of 20%, compared to 5-15% for most eaux de toilette on the market, resulting in 10 to 14 hours of wear on the skin and a full three-stage olfactory evolution (top, heart, and base notes). Each creation is produced in a limited series of up to 500 bottles, preserving its exclusive character.

What to see and do during a visit

Our showroom is open by appointment and offers an experience designed for the curious and connoisseurs alike:

  • Discovering the collection of niche perfumes, with personalized advice and guided scent testing from our team.
  • Learning how it's made, from raw material to finished bottle, to understand concretely what sets an artisan extract apart from an industrial perfume.
  • A bespoke perfume-making workshop: a private 1-hour session (up to 3 people, ages 15+, €80 per person), where you compose your own fragrance and leave with your 50ml bottle.

An experience that complements our online store

Smelling a perfume on your own skin, talking directly with the team behind the compositions, and discovering the origin of the raw materials: visiting the atelier is a experience in its own right, complementary to our online store. Whether you're passing through Grasse or ordering from home, you'll find the same creations, made with the same standards for concentration and raw materials.
